Soil conditioner may reduce nutrient loss

Nutrient (fertiliser) loss from agricultural land not only contributes to the development of toxic blue-green algae in our streams, it is also a large financial loss to the farmer. In June 1995, a Murray-Darling Basin Conference (held in Echuca) wasaddressed by speakers from Departments of Agriculture, universities and independent research groups from New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia, The conference highlighted the need to continue investigating every potential method of reducing the fertiliserutrient loss into Australian rivers.
