Faster low-cost computers and increasingly reliable modeling software will mean that within just two years from now, twice as much environmental testing will be undertaken onscreen compared to today's levels; a bold statement, but that's the view of the top man at one of the world's leading suppliers of environmental testing equipment and facilities, and quite possibly the last person you'd expect to see heralding the potential demise of 'conventional' laboratory-based environmental simulation and testing. But Robert Norfleet, senior vice-president and general manager of the Sverdrup Technology Group, is no fool. His employer, part of Jacobs Sverdrup, is a household name in the US, and has become a major force worldwide, both in the design, development and supply of equipment and facilities, and in innovative ways of operating them.
