摘要

In June of 2010, the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) released its fourth message on duty-hour standards. Educational stakeholders-program directors, faculty, and trainees-were asked to review the standards and to offer suggestions to the ACGME Task Force. Depending on whether one received the message from the ACGME or the popular press, the changes made by the ACGME were intended either to preserve the privilege of professional self-regulation or to pre-empt regulation by Congress, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), or another regulatory body.
