Ceramic-coated barrier films

Ceramic-coated barrier films come to North America, as Japanese developer Toppan signs up a U.S. distributor. The firm supplies PET film which is vacuum-coated with aluminum oxide and which can be laminated to a LLDPE sealant layer. As compared to PVdC-coated PET film, the ceramic-coated film has twice the oxygen barrier and twice the moisture barrier, even after 100 cycles of Gelbo flex testing.
