A new report on the uptake of tablet computers and e-readers that US consumers are increasingly substituting for printed newspapers, magazines, and books made depressing reading for publishers and pa-permakers, with nearly every demographic group showing an increase. The June 10 report from the Pew Internet Project shows the adoption of tablet devices like the iPad, Kindle, and Nook continues to grow exponentially, with a third of American adults now owning one — nearly double the number who owned one a year ago.
