Changes in technology and machine capabilities are challenging companies to manufacture parts with complex and intricate features for which "off the shelf' tools are poorly suited. To create these features, minimize cycle times and hold tolerances requires tools designed specifically for the application. Many times, instead of making parts to sell, companies are faced with the choice of making their own tools or forced to wait through long lead-times and commit to high prices or high volume agreements. THINBIT~R DESIGN-A-GROOVE tooling is modified according to a customer's specific application requirements. These requirements include grooving, face grooving, threading, boring, turning and parting for internal or external applications. Special configurations include depth of cut, face grooving geometry, full or corner radius, threading, lead angles, chamfering, chip control, dove tails, top rakes and many other customized geometric combinations. DESIGN-A-GROOVE configurations can be provided on any THINBIT inserts, solid carbide tools, indexable boring systems or toolholders.
