PHYTOCHEMICAL STUDIES ON CHENOPODIUM BONUS HENRICUS L.(CHENOPODIACEAE)

Chenopodium bonus henricus L., named sheperd's spinach, is a spontaneous, nitrophil plant, used forlong time in medicinal romanian tradition. The scientific basis for using this plant was perfomed byphytochemical studies. The qualitative and quantitative phytochemical studies were performed usingchromatographic (TLC – densitometry, HPLC, GC) and spectral (UV-Vis, MS, AAS) methods.Thequalitative and quantitative analysis shown the presents in this plant of the following activecompounds: polyphenols – caffeic acid derivatives, flavonoids, tannins; triterpenic saponins;carotenoids; ecdysteroids; fatty oil and minerals.
