Ineos Ponders Nuclear Power Plant;Cracker for EVC

Ineos Chlor has confirmed U.K.press reports that it would be interested in participating in a consortium of industrial electricity consumers to build a nuclear power plant in the U.K.Ineos is the largest chlor-alkali producer in Europe,and currently spends about pound70 million(US131.6 million)/year on electricity,accounting for 60%of its total chlor-alkali manufacturing costs,says Chris Tane,commercial director.The company has 850,000-m.t./year of chlorine capacity,including 763,000 m.t./year at Runcorn,U.K.Nuclear power is the cheapest method of electricity generation,but currently accounts for only 23%of U.K.electricity supply,analysts say.
