THIS may not come as a shock: With three kids under the age of 9, we do a lot of reading in our house. We've been through many children's books over the years. A lot. Like, really very many. Also not surprising is that our home library leans agricultural. As a farm family, there was no better gift for the new baby —or the new baby's subsequent birthdays —than a children's book about farming. We could own stock in DK Publishing, which sells any number of great little picture books about farms and food, or with "touch and feel" farm animals. I bet you've seen them: white background, lots of bright colors and photos. Their description of a four-wheeler as a "quad bike" definitely screams British publisher. But that's OK; they're still more accurate than some of the John Deere books we have. I have no explanation for that.
