The current demand of high-quality foods in the food market requires dehydrated products with properties with similar levels as found in the initial fresh product. In addition, the drying process should have a low production cost and a low environmental impact. Cheaper product drying at low temperatures can be achieved through absorption air-conditioning combined with a fluid bed dryer or belt dryer. Such a system offers major advantages in processes where very low temperatures, low humidity and decontamination play an important role. As well as operating as a product dryer, the system works as an air washer for gases and solid particles. Almost all bacteria and micro-organisms present in the drawn-in air are killed by the system. In addition, this is a durable and very energy-efficient solution.
