Exposed beta-glucans from yeast cell walls stimulate the immune system of pigs. This enables a pig to react faster and more effectively in case of an infection or a pathogenic threat and provides the pig a better health protection. As a result, beta-glucans improve animal health and animal performance via an improved self defence. The support of beta-glucans in the diet may be especially relevant for piglets. Young animals are still in the learning period during which the immune system is trained howto respond to antigenic challenges.
