Cosmetic use of C-glycoside (I) or its tautomer or solvate to fight against weakening of the natural defenses of skin due to chronological-/photo-induced aging, strengthen the natural defenses of skin, stimulate the epidermis immune defenses, and/or to prevent and/or treat autoimmune skin diseases. S1 : mono-/polysaccharide having 20 sugar units of pyranose, furanose and/or L- and/or D-series form, and at least one free hydroxyl group, e.g. D-glucose, D-galactose, D-mannose, D-xylose, D-lyxose, L-fucose, L-arabinose, L-rhamnose, D-glucuronic acid, D-galacturonic acid, D-iduronic acid, N-acetyl-D-glucosamine, N-acetyl-D-galactosamine, D-maltose, D-lactose, D-cellobiose, D-maltotriose, D-iduronic acid, D-glucuronic acid withe hexosamine e.g. D-galactosamine, D-glucosamine, N-acetyl-D-galactosamine, N-acetyl-D-glucosamine, xylobiose, methyl-beta -xylobioside, xylotriose, xylotetraose, xylopentaose or xylohexaose; R1 : Na+, Li+, K+ or N+R3R4R5R6; R2 : H or CH3; and R3-R6 : CH3, ethyl, propyl, butyl or benzyl, provided that if S1 is fucose then R2 is methyl. An independent claim is included for a composition comprising (I) in combination with an ingredient e.g. anti-seborrheic agent, agents stimulating re-growth and/or promoting hair loss reduction, antibacterial agents, calcium antagonist, hormone e.g. estriol or its analogue or thyroxine or its salts, antiandrogen agent, (non)steroid 5-alpha -reductase inhibitor, or ATP dependant potassium channel agonist.
