Long-term planning must include an expectancy factor of continued future livestock performance improvements. Table 1 shows the growth performance from 1956 to 1993 for commercial broiler chicks, turkeys and ducklings. Not only has rate of growth increased, but at the same time, considerable effort has been given to reduce the carcase fat level and increase total meat yield.
