Italian authorities have watered down new tanker rule and will now allow crudes of 25.7 API gravity and above to be shipped on single-hull vessels, shipbrokers said May 9. Initially the shipping decree, which took effect May 5, banned single-hull tankers from carrying crudes heavier than 30 API, as well as fuel oil, bitumen, tar and used oil.
