Iraqi crude could serve as a future benchmark for the Middle East,assuming the Iraqi government is comfortable with the idea,a BP executive told an oil and gas conference Sep 9. Tony Harpur,BP's regional manager for the Middle East and India,made the suggestion in the presence of Mohammed al-Jibouri,head of IRaqi state oil marketer SOMO,but Jibouri left before questions and was not immediately availably to comment.
