There are two quite different types of leathers produced within the factory. Most research and development work is performed at the UK headquarters of Pittards, but when the technique has been established the technology is transferred to ETSC. This is then carefully introduced into production, until a satisfactory standard is achieved before moving into bulk production. The outline process is described below.
