Nakara tannery was established in 1980 for processing small game skins together with a small shop making and selling leather goods. After considerable 'expansion, the tannery now processes sheepskins to the pickled state for export, and both bovine and exotic hides for lightly finished furniture leathers. In addition, a range of game skins including zebra, springbok and kudu are processed for decorative purposes, but also designed and made up on site into a range of exotic leather goods. These include bags, belts, rugs and leather clothing that are sold both from the tannery shop and through retail outlets owned by the company.
