摘要

A group of leading European intellectual property academics has heavily criticized as counterproductive a recent European Commission proposal to extend the copyright life of recorded music from 50 years to 95 years. They insist that it was especially misguided with regard to younger generations and the prevalence of downloading from the Internet.rnIn a July 21 letter to the editor of leading European newspapers, 15 professors from leading European universities stated that the Commission proposal defies a host of recent studies on the issue. They added that the Commission erred in stating that the proposal would benefit musicians with hit records in the 1950s and 1960s because they could count on income in their old age.
