WIPO Members Make Progress on Global Legal Instrument for Protection of Traditional Knowledge, Folklore

Members of the World Intellectual Property Organization have made what officials are describing as the first real progress in efforts to develop an international legal instrument for the protection of traditional knowledge, traditional cultural expressions, and genetic resources.rnMeeting in Geneva on July 19-23, an expert working group under WIPO's Intergovernmental Committee on Intellectual Property and Genetic Resources, Traditional Knowledge and Folklore (IGC) produced a consolidated draft text on the issue of traditional cultural expressions.
