Possession of an internet-enabled device automatically triggers liability for the Swedish television license fee, a Swedish court has ruled, regardless of whether an individual owns a TV set. In a June 24 statement, Lulea Administrative Court announced that it had dismissed nineteen appeals against license fee demands issued by the nation's TV license collection and enforcement body Radiotjanst. While a "couple of hundred" cases were still pending, the court said, the initial nineteen appeals had all been rejected.
