Canadian Court Rulings Uphold Patents for Lundbeck, AstraZeneca Drugs

Recent rulings from the Federal Court of Canada mean that generic versions of the antidepres-sant Lexapro and the ulcer drug Prilosec are now blocked until the patents covering the drugs expire. In addition, in the Lexapro case, the court ruled that generic manufacturer Apotex Inc infringed H Lundbeck A/S's patent on the drug and ordered Apotex to disgorge profits from its sale of a generic version.
