Nintendo Can Get EU-Wide Ban on Design-Infringing Controllers

A German court can bar two companies that infringed Nintendo Co. Ltd.'s design rights from performing infringing activities throughout the entire European Union, the EU's highest court ruled Sept. 27. The Court of Justice of the European Union's ruling is a victory for holders of Community Designs-design rights that offer protection throughout the EU. It clarifies that a victory in a national court can have effect throughout the bloc, and should streamline and lower the costs of enforcing Community Designs.
