Bruce Paterson

Bruce Graeme Paterson was born in 1934 in Port Elizabeth, in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. One of three children, with his sisters Margret and Anne, Bruce was born into a family which has had a close association with the wool and mohair trade since the early part of the 20th century. Bruce attended Grey School in Port Elizabeth and was a border at the high school. He loved cricket and played for Grey High School 1 st team and continued to play cricket after he left school for Old Grey. He was also a coach at a mini cricket clinic at the Old Grey Fields in Port Elizabeth until his early 70's. Bruce married Merle in 1959 and a year later Graeme, the first of four children, was born, followed by Keith in 1965, Elizabeth in 1969 and Neil in 1970. In 2016, Keith sadly passed away after a tragic aeroplane accident. In a career dedicated to the wool and mohair industry, Bruce worked for the South African wool and mohair broker BKB. He held several management positions at the company in livestock auctioneering and marketing, as well as wool and mohair marketing, both locally and internationally.
