This paper describes an experiment undertaken to determine the effect of different lighting and print con- ditions on the sustained performance of a repetitive, self- placed, data-entry task. Twenty-four subjects worked for almost four hours at a data-entry task in one of three identical, private, windowless offices. All three offices were lighted by a similar fluorescent, parabolic lighting installation. In total, task performance measurements were taken for 60 combinations of illuminance, print size and luminance contrast.
