The National Water Commission has released its 2007-08 Annual Report, with CEO Ken Matthews stating that national water reform is more vital and urgent than ever. The report also raises alarm over the overuse and pollution of the nation's groundwater supply which now makes up 30 per cent of the country's water consumption. The Commission has also released a report showing that desalination technologies will play an increasingly important role in securing Australia's water supplies. "Emerging Trends in Desalination" aims to inform decisions on the merits of desalination technologies and their future place among water supply options.
