A parliamentary inquiry has been set up to examine the social and economic impacts of the Murray-Darling Basin plan on regional communities, following growing concern over proposed cuts to farmers' water rights. The six-month inquiry will be held by the federal parliamentary committee for regional Australia and will be chaired by independent MP Tony Windsor.
