Funding to support irrigation communities in the Murray-Darling Basin has been announced by the federal government. Irrigators in New South Wales will benefit from over $250 million investment in irrigation infrastructure upgrades to replace irrigation channels with pipelines and new water management technologies. In Queensland, up to $36 million will be provided to the Queensland government to begin two rounds of on-farm irrigation efficiency improvements. The announcements were made by Senator Penny Wong during her visit to communities in the Murray-Darling Basin.
