Australia's federal government has rejected the Queensland State Governnment's proposal to build a dam at Traveston Crossing on the Mary River in South East Queensland (see Water21, December, pp 62-64).rnIn confirming his previously proposed decision Peter Garrett, Federal Minister for the Environment, Heritage and the Arts, said he had concluded that the dam could not go ahead '...without unacceptable impacts on matters of national environmental significance.'
