The US EPA's lead on water sector innovation

Led by a comprehensive US Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) initiative, the United States is developing new technologies to help solve water management problems caused by droughts, pollution and climate change. The US EPA's 'Water Technology Innovation Blueprint', version 1 of which was released in March 2013, and version on 2 April 2014, has sparked a series of actions to develop and apply innovative water treatment technologies - including collaborative work by a number of'research clusters' around the country and technology introductions by the private sector. 'Every American deserves clean and safe water; we will achieve that goal by supporting the advancement and use of innovative technologies to meet challenges and seize opportunities in the water sector,' US EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy has said of the Blueprint.
