GOP Bill Would Terminate EPA Water Infrastructure Funding Programs

More than a dozen Senate Republicans are backing just-introduced legislation that would combine EPA and the Department of Energy (DOE) as one agency, while terminating key EPA funding programs, including state loan accounts for pollution controls and drinking water. Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC) and 15 of his Republican colleagues, including Sens. Jim DeMint (SC) and John Barrasso (WY), introduced the bill, S. 892, on May 5.
