Competitors Prepare for West Coast Showdown

The battle rages on as the Water Environment Federation's Operations Challenge Committee and participating Member Associations gear up for the WEFTEC.03(~R) Operations Challenge in Los Angeles. Now in its 16th year, the waste-water treatment industry's premier operations and maintenance competition will draw teams from across North America ― as well as a new entry from Argentina ― for a head-on, day-long match to determine this year's champion. On Tuesday, Oct. 14, from 9:15 a.m. to 5 p.m., up to 35 teams from 23 Member Associations will compete in five areas: process control, maintenance, collection systems, safety, and laboratory (see sidebar, p. 88). All areas are judged and scored separately against established criteria. At press time, six new teams had signed up for this year's Challenge.
