Republic sees 'world-class fleet' on horizon

Concerns about the economy and an initiative to standardize fleet maintenance are helping put the squeeze on profit mar-gins for Republic Services Inc. and forcing the company to lower earnings guidance for this year. The Phoenix-based solid waste management company, when re-cently announcing first quarter fi-nancial results, said expected earnings per share for 2012 are being lowered by 12 cents on both the low and high end of the range.
