The Enron scandal and other cases of corporate corruption that have depressed investor confidence to the lowest level yet recorded have corporate America and Wall Street working overtime to avoid further government regulations and more shareholder lawsuits. Business leaders are scrambling for a quick fix for their massive public relations problems. And a new trend may be aborning. The era of the celebrity CEO didn't end as well as we might have liked. Some of the CEOs, like Tyco's Dennis Kozlowski, who once graced the covers of business magazines now may face prison. Others are struggling to keep their once high-flying firms from crashing, like Sun Microsystems' Scott McNealy. Still others have found their celebrity no shield when their personal misadventures are made public, like GE's Jack Welch.
