A senior official with private equity-backed UK gas producer Neptune Energy has called on the UK government to consider using emergency powers to relax the specification requirements for gas entering the nation's transmission network in order to boost supplies amid the ongoing price crisis. Sam Laidlaw, chairman of Neptune, which operates the Cygnus gas field in the southern North Sea, set out his company's arguments in a letter to Business & Energy Secretary Kwasi Kwarteng, seen by Upstream.
