KBR set to exit EPC sector in major strategy switch

US services giant KBR has reiterated it is exiting the lumpsum engineering procurement and construction business - including the liquefied natural gas sector -as part of a radical shift in strategy. The Houston-based player said in its second-quarter results announcement on 6 August that it will instead focus on "upmarket, technical services and solutions" based on a two-segment model - government solutions and technology solutions. "This transformation is the culmination of a years-long shift away from high-risk and com-moditised markets and toward more agile, technology-driven, knowledge-based delivery," said chief executive Stuart Bradie.
