The C$623M design-build fixed price contract for the 10.4km (6.5-mile) long Niagara Tunnel,in Niagara Falls,Canada,will divert a further 500m~3/s to the Sir Adam Beck hydroelectric generating facility,downstream of the iconic waterfalls. Under existing agreements,6000m~3/s of run of the river flow is available for power generation,which is shared between Canada and the United States.Current diversion capacity for power generation in Canada stands at 1800m~3/s,meanng available flow currently exceeds diversion capacity 65% of the time.
