The fatigue strength of a dissimilar material welded butt joints of high manganese non-magnetic steel and SS400 carbon steel (hereafter referred to as DMW joints) was almost the same with that of a welded butt joints of similar SS400 carbon steel. The fatigue strength of the DMW joints exceeded the fatigue design standard curve of JSSC (Japanese Society of Steel Construction) for SS400 carbon steel welded butt joints.
