EPR Fuel Assemblies: Proven Technology for Advanced Reliability

In 2003, the Finnish utility Teollisuuden Voima Oy (TVO) signed a contract to build the first EPR in Olkiluoto, Finland. In 2004, the French utility EDF selected an EPR to be built in France. In 2005, Framatome ANP announced that they will be pursuing a design certification in the U.S. In this paper, the EPR core characteristics are briefly presented, then the main objectives of the fuel assembly in terms of performance and reliability are discussed, and the main features of the fuel assemblies are presented. Finally, the in-reactor experience is presented.
