Development of A Brake Assist System

Investigations into the braking behavior of average drivers in panic situations led us to examine the development of a Brake Assist system that could supplement the braking power upon detection of panic braking on the part of the driver. Such a system, under the umbrella concept of active safety, has the greatest potential for helping some drivers. Although the system is effective when driver fail to apply the brakes fully, the system may make more experienced drivers uncomfortable. As a result, we have worked hard to develop a brake assist system (vacuum booster type) that increases driver control as it reduces discomfort.
