On 16 March, the European Parliament's Environment Committee (ENVI) followed Renate Sommer's advice to postpone the vote on the draft report on the proposed food information regulation until after the Parliamentary elections.rnRenate Sommer, who is the rapporteur on the proposed regulation and looks likely to be re-elected in June, will draft a new report, taking into account as many of the tabled amendments as possible. One of the reasons for the delay in the vote was that so many amendments were tabled to the original report that discussions were becoming very complex, with MEPs -describing even internal party discussions as a "complete mess". Council also needs more time to reach a compromise on what is being called the "problematic proposal".
