Rail locations like Westhouses, Annesley and Kirkby-in-Ashfield in the 'sixties are well featured in this book, which showcases many lost steam scenes and routes north of Nottingham. Writer Martin Weiss, a local newspaper editor, has added some personal recollections from former steam railwaymen which give the book extra appeal. The book gives the author's view on the real reason for the closure of the former Great Central main line and includes some rare b/w pictures of the route in Notts when it was still busy with coal, fish and steel traffic. Other lines covered include minor corridors like the Ripley branch, the Cromford and High Peak and the Ashover Light Railway.
