Severn Valley 'Chopper' helps trackwork project

Class 20 No. D8059 was on permanent way duties on December 9, in preparation for track relaying work undertaken by the Severn Valley Railway. More than a third of a mile of track at Foley Park, including the section through the 480 yard tunnel, has now been renewed, along with signal cabling. The Type 1 was based at Bewdley during the six-week period when the line was closed, for use on trips to Eardington to collect ballast. Later this year, it will receive small yellow warning panels. Black-liveried No. D8188 is still awaiting bodywork repairs and a repaint into BR green with small yellow warning panels, as first mooted two years ago.
