Big cat set for a roaring F1 debut

When the lights go green at Albert Park, Melbourne on 12 March, a great name from Britain's racing heritage will make its first Formula One start. Jaguar, famous for its exploits in sports cars at Le Mans and Daytona, is taking on the might of McLaren, Williams and Ferrari. The team, bought by Ford from Jackie Stewart last year, is pinning its hopes on the Jaguar R1. The car's design team was led by technical director Gary Anderson, a veteran of Jordan's early foray into the sport, who joined the Stewart-Ford team last year. Johnny Herbert and Eddie Irvine will be in the driving seats.
