Flood review's 'new approach' fails to meet expectations

The government's national flood resilience review has fallen short of the expectations of many in the environment sector. The review, published on 8 September, sets out what the government calls a "new approach" to flood defence so the "nation is better prepared and more resilient to flooding, now and in the coming years". It began in January in the wake of serious floods in Lancashire and Cumbria.
