摘要

What can specifiers do to make buildings more resilient to bad weather? In bad weather most flat roofs fail at the seams and joints. Selecting a liquid-applied system that bonds directly to the entire roof substrate will not only provide a monolithic seamless membrane, but also greatly reduce the risk of wind uplift associated with partially bonded sheet systems such as single ply. If the roof has insufficient falls or adequate drainage, standing water can occur. The waterproofing membrane must be able to continue to perform, often for long periods, under these conditions. Bad weather can also be excessively hot and dry so it is vital to have a roof substrate that is UV stable and won't break down, dry out or crack. A monolithic, seamless liquid system can give that long-term protection.
