64 countries, including India, cut CO_2 emissions in 2016-19

Some 64 countries cut their toxic carbon dioxide emissions during 2016-2019. However, the rate of reduction needs to be ten times greater than current global efforts to meet the Paris Agreement and tackle climate change. India is among the 64 countries and has been placed in the category of lower middle and low-income economies. This was revealed in the latest scientific analysis published in 'Nature Climate Change'. The study, which has been conducted as part of the Global Carbon Project, is the first global stock taken by researchers that examines progress in cutting CO_2 emissions since the Paris Agreement was adopted in 2015.
