CO_2 Emissions in Developing Countries- A Cross Continent Analysis of Brazil, India and South Africa

This study gives a comparison between carbon emissions per capita of developing nations in 3 different continents and discusses the reasons for the differences in emissions among them. The study also discusses how increased output has led to greater emissions in developing nations. An analysis of the main factors leading to CO_2 emissions in 3 developing countries, namely Brazil, South Africa and India has been carried out. Linear regression model and regression curve estimation are the tools used in analyzing the factors responsible for carbon emissions in these countries. The study shows the various reasons for increasing CO_2 emissions in these countries. The process of industrialization has been taken as a major reason and the growth rate of industries alongwith the growth rate of CO_2 emissions have been compared. For this purpose simple Gl is used. To know the various other factors responsible for increased emissions 3 variables have been taken namely burning coal for electricity production, burning fossil fuels for transportation and burning fossil fuels for industrial purpose. Linear regression is used to analyse the data.
