The Case of Unsafe Abortion in Trinidad and Tobago: An NGO Perspective

This paper traces the journey of a group of activists in addressing the critical issue of maternal mortality, maternal health and unsafe abortions in Trinidad and Tobago (T&T). It looks at the challenges faced by the nongovernmental organisation ASPIRE (Advocates for Safe Parenthood: Improving Reproductive Equity) to keep this important issue on the front burner of the local sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) landscape.%Cet article tente de mettre en lumière le parcours activiste nécessaire pour aborder la question crucial de la mortalité maternelle, la santé maternelle et l'avortement à risque à Trinité et Tobago. Il se penche sur les défis auxquels fait face ASPIRE, une organisation non gouvernementale (NGO), dans ses efforts visant à maintenir cette importante question au premier plan du panorama local dans le domaine de la santé et des droits génésiques et sexuels.
