ANTI-POLLUTION SHIP 'BONNET'

Ships arriving in California ports may one day have to wear 'bonnets' if tests recently conducted by Advanced Cleanup Technologies Inc of its new Advanced Maritime Emissions Control System (AMECS) are successful. The system is made up of a 2,500Ib 'bonnet' that is placed over a ship's funnel, the toxic pollutants from auxiliary engines and boilers then being vacuumed through a duct to a special treatment plant.
