Cranes arrive for new 'super-port'

On 1 March giant new container cranes arrived in the Thames Estuary from China on board the 234m heavy load carrier Zhen Hua 26, which berthed at the UK's new global shipping port, DP World's London Gateway, after a two-month voyage from China. The huge cranes are 138m tall at full height, taller than the London Eye, and weigh 2,000 tonnes each. With an outreach of 25 rows, they are the first in the UK to be able to lift four containers at once, which means the ships can be unloaded more efficiently.
